Then, I felt a rush of another emotion. Honor. At first, I simply texted it in response to her gratitude for my offer to send Reiki during his time of transition. “I would be honored,” I said. But then, it flooded through every cell in my body. It felt like a combination of love, amazement, and gratitude-- all rushing through me in this feeling called Honor.
How amazing is it that I got to connect with this cat during his short time on the planet? That I had the gift of getting to know him and of walking alongside him and his family during so much of his life? That our paths crossed—and not just briefly. But that they crossed and connected in a way that allowed us to share time, experience, and ultimately, love. What an Honor. My mind then started to visit all of the beautiful animals and people that I have been blessed to connect with during my 16 years as a pet sitter, trainer, and healer. From the chickens that I fed, to the cat that I gave insulin to twice/day, to the dog that I walked and cared for. I became a part of these animals’ lives and their families. I became a trusted soul that these animal souls could look to for comfort and care while their families had to travel or take care of other obligations. I became a part of their hearts. What an Honor. As we continue through this difficult time in history, we are reminded of the fragility and temporary nature of many things—jobs, businesses, social connections, even lives. Let us remember to hold on to the awe and wonder of every single connection that we are gifted with. Every experience, every relationship, every soul. Each connection is amazing when you think about your short time here on Earth. Each one is an absolute Honor.
